Handymen: How To Figure Out Your Hourly Rate

Charging the right rate for your handyman services may be the single most important piece of planning you do. Undercharging means you’ll have to work two or three times harder and longer than other handymen. You’ll also end up working for penypinchers and you’ll generally be respected a bit less than if you charged more. What you charge per hour Read the rest of this entry

Responsibilities Of A Janitor

Janitors are important for many businesses that have large facilities. A janitor is a person who provides cleaning and light handyman work for a company usually on a daily basis. Janitors clean sinks, toilets, and bathrooms. They are also responsible for keeping bathrooms stocked with toiletry items like toilet paper, paper towels, and soap. Janitors are also responsible for cleaning floors. They sweep, mop, buff, wax and vacuum. Window cleaning is another job that janitors are usually responsible for Janitors may also be required to help move objects to and from storage. When shipments of goods are delivered a janitor may be the person that is responsible for ensuring that those goods make it to their proper destination onsite. Emptying trash cans and replacing the can liners is another responsibility most janitors have. In some cases janitors are responsible for unlocking and locking facilities when it is time to open and close. Outdoor responsibilities may include cleaning of parking lots, curbside areas, and ashtrays. Some of the Handyman responsibilities that a janitor may have are fixing broken locks, replacing faucets and fixtures, replacing light bulbs, and painting.

Most janitors make between fifteen thousand dollars and thirty thousand dollars a year. If they are employed directly by the company they are cleaning for, they usually have additional benefits that include health insurance and retirement. Janitors are also employed through third party companies who are contracted to provide cleaning services on a set schedule. Companies that need cleaning service only once a week or month benefit the most from contracting through a third party. This type of arrangement can be advantageous in the event of janitorial illness or absence. The third party company can easily make arrangements to have another janitor fill in for the absent person. Large businesses usually require cleaning services daily, which prompts them to hire full time staff.

Father’s Day Activities

Father’s Day is June 17th this year, and now is the time to starting thinking of interesting activities for celebrating your father on his special day. Your father has done so much for you, so be sure to thank him and have fun with him this Father’s Day.

One activity your dad is sure to enjoy is opening a special gift just for him. Personalized Father’s Day gifts make a lasting impression, because they show that you care. Father’s Day gift baskets are fun to put together, and more fun to watch your father open.

The gift basket can be focused around an activity that your father enjoys. If he is a sports enthusiast, and loves baseball for example, give him a great sports-themed basket, which might include a baseball cap for his favorite team, and tickets to go see his team play. Many fathers would be thrilled with a gift that was personalized with items that he would especially enjoy.

It is usually customary to have a special meal in honor of your father for Father’s Day. Everyone loves gourmet foods, and your father is no exception, so why not create a gift basket that focuses on some of his favorites. You could put together a basket that features a lovely bottle of wine and snacks that might come from the same region as the wine. If it is a French wine, then perhaps include some caviar, Nicoise olives, French cheeses and some lovely crackers for a super Father’s Day gift.

If your father enjoys cooking, you could turn this activity into a great gift basket idea, and create a basket that offers ingredients that could be used for his special meal. You could do a Thai-themed gift basket with lovely rice noodles, Jasmine rice, canned bamboo shoots and water chestnuts, and include a super Thai cookbook, a beautiful bowl and set of chop sticks. Your “foodie” father will flip for this thoughtful gift basket.

Does your father like to work on projects out in the garage or workshop? If so, this activity could be a starting point for a glorious gift basket that features items a handyman would enjoy. An electronic level, for example, is always appreciated, as are some new hand tools, and a selection of nails and screws. A great pair of work gloves will be appreciated, as well as the latest handyman magazine. To make it really
1000
special, put a gift certificate into the basket so your father can redeem your help on a big project, and you can enjoy his hobby together.
Every father has activities that he enjoys, and it can make for a fun Father’s Day to spend time with dad doing any of them.

handyman hourly rate – YouTube – bevron12’s Channel

For a very long time, Tom and Nicole had been interested in purchasing a home in the Chicago area. Tom, an architect, and Nicole, an interior designer loved all the home styles that the area had to offer. Since their marriage several years ago they had rented a lovely brownstone on a convenient and well travelled street. As they looked for a home of their own to purchase they were drawn to the bungalow style which was so prevalent in many of the Chicago neighborhoods. They knew a bungalow would be on the small side when it came to square footage but the corresponding small home mortgage fell comfortably within their budget, leaving them adequate funds for updating and maintenance.

Tom and Nicole were well aware that older homes typically require more maintenance than newer ones and were trying to plan accordingly. When they finally did purchase their home one of the first things they did was hire the services of a nearby Naperville handyman. Having previously worked with him on a Naperville bathroom remodeling job for one of her design projects, Nicole knew he would provide them with excellent service. When seeking professionals to provide maintenance services for home projects, smart homeowners look for several non-negotiable things in their provider.

- It is wise to always be sure to select a provider who has been bonded.

- It is wise to always be sure to select a provider who has been insured.

- It is wise to always be sure to select a provider who will give you a written estimate before performing the job.

- It is wise to always be sure to select a provider only after researching their grievance status with the Better Business Bureau. Be sure to note whether grievances are listed as resolved or unresolved.

- It is wise to always be sure to select a provider who will offer a warranty on the work they will perform.

- It is wise to always be sure to select a provider who can supply you with several valid references.

By keeping these few suggestions in mind, homeowners can most likely put themselves in a position to hire a reputable service provider for their improvement jobs. While delays or unforeseen expenses can always occur in improvement or maintenance projects, working with a provider whom you have chosen based on the preceding points will most likely give you the opportunity to have your work completed well, completed in a timely fashion, and completed on or near your budgeting expectations.

Having a trusted contact to depend on for the many home related maintenance issues which can occur, particularly for the owner of an older home, is imperative. Whether it be routine maintenance such as painting or weather sealing, or more complicated improvements such as a kitchen overhaul, using a skillful and proven service provider will pay dividends in the end. With a little initial due diligence it is possible for a homeowner to hire the best person for their maintenance right from the start, eliminating stress and beautifying their living space with minimal complication.

Connor Sullivan has been interviewing Naperville handyman companies to do some work on his inlaw’s home. He hired a Naperville bathroom remodeling company to add a full bathroom in his basement.
